Hope

In Ephesians 4 we are told as Christians that we have one hope, that hope is based upon our faith in Christ. A faith through acceptance of his messiahship, a faith that is expressed in the Nicene Creed; a creed that many Christans read out aloud in church every week. But how many know what they are saying? How many doubt this truth? We talk of "The Church" and there is a Hymn that talk's of the church of one foundation, yet the church, forgets the requirements of Ephesians to be in unity with each other, rather than the fragmented idea of church that so many seem to be part of.
If we are to truly live in the eternal hope of unity, then we must recognise our differences, yet focus upon the fundamental principles of Christian faith that we share, even though our individual understanding may be poles apart. Our faith should not be a theological debate but a meeting people, where we aim at "breaking Bread Together" and receive the everlasting love of Jesus through the promised salvation to all are one with him

Hello? Is that the Vatican, who is this? This is Canterbury!

Have you ever made a phone call, to a relative, a friend from university or seminary or someone you simply called just "friend". But you have not seen them too often in the past few years, you have barely kept contact, but continue to believe in your own mind that you and them are still close. What about our communication with God?Is it not through our daily prayers & worship on at least a weekly basis along with daily scripture, whether through the "Daily Offices" or our own individual prayers that our own relationship with Our Lord continues to grow & develop and therefore we are more able to understand what he wants us to do in our lives as we try to live our the Great Commission. This is so simple, yet what about those of the Anglican tradition fail to adhere to such dedicated relationships with our Roman Brothers in the priesthood. Why is the Vatican someone we feel we are friends with yet, they probably hardly know what we are thinking these days? While the Church of England, via the Diocese of Europe have "their man in Rome", how is the relationship developing? No very far, maybe. What about our Orthodox brothers in the priesthood? While as individuals on a local basis our strengthening relationships & even on a Diocesan level it is moving forward, but as a National Church it is really sad how the relationship is neglected like the Spinster great Aunt who sought retirement all those years ago in a isolated location, and now rarely gets a visit or phone call, let along a Birthday or Christmas card & yet family members still dare to call her family. How our relationships with our fellow Catholic brothers of the other Rites are treated in exactly the same way!
If we really want the reality of that Hymn: "One Church,One Faith,One Lord", then we first need to actually talk to each other, even when we feel that we Will disagree. After all, we adhere to the same fundamental Christian beliefs as well historical foundation, yet we no longer continue to talk about anything, yet regard each other as fellow catholics Christians and friends.
